equinn (Customer) asked a question.

When calling a user on a Vocera badge, can you use an alias for the person's name you are calling?

We have a request from our BHU director that it is a security risk to say a staff member's full name when calling their Vocera. Is there a way to set up an alias name in Vocera for users in the BHU (Behavior Health Unit)

@equinn (Customer) Yes, Vocera supports configuring Alternate Spoken Names for users. This allows staff to call someone using a preferred or less identifiable name instead of their full name (for example, “Call Nurse XXX”). System administrators or users with appropriate Vocera Console access/rights can configure Alternate Spoken Names in the user profile, and these are used by the speech recognition system when placing calls.
